I went to the Idaho gathering in the 80s. The trail in was strenuous enough to keep the drunks in the parking lot. The kitchens and bathroom facilities were well organized. Wavy Gravy was there exhorting folks to clean after themselves and organized the cleanup after. I had a wonderful time there

Harry Hugs is a person who used a shovel and almost beat to death 2 people at a rainbow gathering. They were life flighted by air and lived. Harry then served time in a California prison. That he is the face represented here is unfortunate. Rainbow Gatherings are a real mixed bag.

Great conversation. Terrific book, Empire of the Summer Moon. Incredible story of Quanah Parker and the Commanches, nearly surreal now but actually not that long ago. Admiration goes to Quanah for having a change of heart and mind about warriors "activities" on the Great Plains and for guiding/leading his people to safety, albiet, a reservation. Good point that Mr. Gywnne makes about coming to know ones own immediate (geographical/topographical) landscape although this includes ones interior landscape as well, ie, an intimate connection to the land - versus - the white man's desire/behavior to control and dominate to obilivion if he does not get his way...

I hate it when people say "you split yourself...." I had absolutely nothing to do with my splitting! It's just something that happened organically! I wish this would be cleared up! And/Or people would really think about what they are saying.

17:44 the panel should have had enough sense to reply to the caller “the US Senate is where the states are supposed to have a voice, your voice as a citizen is in the House of Representatives” why they didn’t say that is beyond me. Outrageous even.

i've heard stories about recording artists who are so brilliant and whatever that they can tell their song-makers to "make the song sound purple" or whatever. like the line between ears and eyes, instruments and paints, testicals and ovaries, has utterly converged when they are in that "perfect space." i'm not that. but when I see people like this I understand the sentiment. i can only hear and see the word "TRY TRY TRY." all caps, no letters, blazing White out of the abyss, repeated beautifully. TBH the last Public Broadcast piece i saw featuring a Female Elder artist was out of my Home state. (but def not my city.) if the dear Heart had said nothing and just patted herself on the back for 2 minutes it could have spared a lot of unartistic, utterly fruitless division. (Winslow Homer, and prob Copley too, would have scrubbed those jetty stones bare. and more importantly, it would have stayed between them and Him. [you remember "Him" right neighbor?] no disrespect neccessary.) anyways... anyone have an empty garden shed on the Bay my small family and I can rent? if its not featured in pre-2010s Country Gardens then forget it. also I just clapped back at a clap back. what a fucking loser i am. have a fn Gansett bro. be humble.

I think it is normal or common that people don't say "I love you" in Chinese. I myself grow up in China. It more of a culture normal than anything else. My parents never said those words to me, but I deeply feel the love and never felt there is something missing (even to this day) I do say I love you a lot of my own children and husband. But deep down, I don't love them more or less just because of saying those words. Anyone else feel that way?
